Moving quotes turn on three things: how much there is, how far it is going, and how many stairs are at each end. Movers ask about stairs because it is often the largest single factor in how long a move takes.
List the big items — beds, sofas, fridge, cooker, washing machine, wardrobe — and roughly how many boxes. A three-bedroom house with barely any furniture and a one-bedroom flat packed to the ceiling can be the same load.
Say whether you want packing included. Packing is usually a separate service, and it is the one people underestimate most.
